Chronology of cameras Ihagee

The Exakta cameras are distinctive German cameras with an unmistakable style. They are built to last, as sturdy as tanks, and almost as heavy.

They were the first single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras with cloth shutter curtains and compact in size. When viewed from above, they have a trapezoidal shape. Manufactured in Germany, they survived through the Second World War. After the war, production resumed in Dresden, which was then in the Soviet-occupied zone, later becoming East Germany (GDR). Production ceased in 1970 with the VX 500.
Throughout their existence, the Exakta series underwent various changes in shape, design, and technical specifications, but they always remained true to their original spirit. An ultimate model was named the Exakta RTL 1000, but it was a model produced in the state-owned Pentacon factory and had no relation to the other Exakta cameras.
The Exakta name was also used for 6x6 format models.

This classification is based on "Exakta Cameras 1933-1978" by Aguila and Rouah, Hove Collectors Books.

__________

This is the first Exakta model put on the market in 1933.

This version 2 (from Exakta Cameras 1933-1978, Aguila and Ruach, Hove Collectors Books) appeared at the end of 1933 differs from the previous one by a thread 0.75 mm instead of 0.50 mm for the screw mount of the lens and a film advance knob of a larger diameter (26 mm instead of 22).
It is on the version 3 that the lever, located at the edge of the lens, was deported on the other side. This lever, which is used here to keep the lens set to infinity, will serve as a fixing lock on later models with interchangeable lenses. It must be noted that the name Exakta A only makes sense after the appearance of the model B that has slow speeds.

It is recognized as the first single-lens reflex camera. Its compactness will inspire all upcoming cameras. If the trapezoidal shape remains the feature of this range of camera until its final demise with the VX 500 in 1970, do not forget the position of the trigger in front and with the use of the left hand, which can sometimes be confusing for some users.

The lens here is a Tessar, but other lenses, signed Meyer or Schneider were also used.
